How long does it last?
It is very difficult to say with certainty how long a piece will last, as it depends upon the size and nature of the sculpture and its location within the venue. However, on average a table piece will last between 3-5 hours and a one-block ice sculpture around 4-6 hours.
How is it delivered?
Each ice sculpture is bubble-wrapped and boxed where appropriate. The sculptures are then shrink-wrapped to a pallet for transportation.
Ice blocks are individually trimmed and boxed and shrink-wrapped to a pallet. A pallet can hold up to 10 ice blocks and would weighs approximately 1200 kilos - this includes the weight of the pallet.
Transport
Both for long haul and UK based deliveries a temperature of -18ºC as a minimum is standard. UK deliveries can be turned around in 2/3 days and deliveries of full trucks to Europe usually take the same period. Groupage through Europe takes longer but we will advise you when orders are placed.
Price
As most people want something special to themselves, we do not give finished prices but you will find a guide price. Please note that this does not include delivery and special deliveries. Simply make sure you are happy with the price quoted to you before ordering.
Dimensions
You will find the size of each piece shown against its photograph. Do remember that most pieces can be made to a different size if you wish – this may alter its price.
What's possible?
ANYTHING! – it’s up to you. On the site you will find various pieces to stimulate your imagination. From an ice cream cow (by special request – not a usual thing!) to an elephant with red roses inside it; a Mayan calendar to Billy Connolly’s motor bike. You must ask, or better still do a drawing – even a poor drawing is better than none.
Do we deliver at weekends?
YES – but do ask when you enquire about your sculpture. We can do timed deliveries but sometimes we may need your help to ensure all goes smoothly. Between us we can usually make things fit to your schedule.
Lighting
We do have lighting and for large events where we set up Ice Bars etc., the lighting will be part of the package. For smaller pieces we can supply small LED lights or larger versions - the smaller LED lights are charged as they are not returnable. The range of brighter bigger lights are hired out, the customer paying a deposit which is refundable on safe return.
Set up / set up instructions
We can deliver and set up your ice sculpture or we can deliver with detailed instructions. Sometimes set up is an extra charge but not in all cases. Simply make your wishes known when ordering and we will make the appropriate arrangements.
Can we freeze items into ice?
Yes! Most things will happily freeze into the ice and be clearly seen as the ice melts. The technique seems to make flowers deeper in colour and give photographs a glazed look. If a lot of flowers are put into the ice it can sometimes crack during manufacture but this is not detrimental and indeed in almost every case will give the ice added character. Glass, metal and plastic present no problems, but wood is not recommended as it usually expands in the water causing the ice to crack rather more than we would like.
How soon before I use it does it have to be put out?
As late as possible before the event starts, but don’t worry. If it is still frosty when your guests arrive or is crystal clear makes no difference. Everyone just enjoys watching the drip drip as the ice changes and starts to reflect the lights and movement around it.
If I collect at lunchtime, how long can I leave it in its box out of a freezer?
Each piece will be wrapped in several layers of bubble wrap and so can last for several hours without melting. Obviously in summer you will not have as much time as during a freezing January. But if you are sensible and cover the box over with blankets or thick coats you will greatly extend the time. We do not recommend ice luges to be left in this way as any melt water can block the tube rendering the luge useless, but most of the usual pieces will not be harmed. Once again, the best thing is to ask at the time of ordering.
